You have always seemed so close, but your so far away
When I shoot and explode in the sky, fall, and fade
You wont ever catch me with your arms you stray
Take another shot, tomorrows a brand new day
When I shoot and explode in the sky, fall, and fade
You wont ever catch me with your arms you stray
Take another shot, tomorrows a brand new day
Candice, loudly and awkwardly laughed. Her adrenaline was rushing and her heart was beating fast as she strolled along the beach, alone. She was not necessarily high off her ass, but she was anything but sober. It had been three weeks since the last time she snorted cocaine with her "friends", and she had been trying to stay clean, but she fell under their peer pressure.
Her day had started normally, waking up in her apartment, getting showered, dressed and going out for breakfast. She spent most of her afternoon shopping with friends until they drove to the harbor. Yes, it might have been freezing, but they were friends spending time together. When they arrived on the harbor, Kelsey, one of the three other girls there, pulled a little bag of cocaine out of her pocket and after cutting it up, snorted it off the dashboard of her car. One by one the girls snorted the lines of cocaine until each girl, except Candice was starting to feel a high. She knew she wasn't going to lose her friends if she wasn't high, but she didn't want to be left out of anything. Soon, after snorting a few lines, a sensation she'd loved but would later feel guilty for.
Before she knew it, Candice and her friends were running around an almost empty beach, tripping over themselves, splashing each other with freezing water, and joking about the most boring things which now seemed hilarious. After three years of doing drugs, Candice might have thought she'd grown a tolerance but she was just as high as she was the first time she tried it. Despite this, she wasn't as energetic as everyone else. She simply laid down and watched the clouds pass over head. She was content with this. After what seemed for hours, she looked away from the clouds and looked around. Her friends were nowhere to be seen. 'Great.' She thought. 'They ditched me.' Candice was now strolling, more like fast walking, along the beach, randomly giggling, unsure if anyone was watching or approaching her. She was in her own little world.
